What we do not fund
The Foundation supports scholarship and research within the framework of its own chosen areas of research and areas of special emphasis. But the Foundation is unable to provide support in a number of areas for which help is frequently requested. The following list aims to save possible applicants from submitting applications which under no circumstances would be considered. It names the typical wishes, areas and institutions which are excluded from the support-programmes of the Fritz Thyssen Stiftung:
- University study grants
- Doctoral stipends
- Habilitation stipends
- The topping up of stipends and subsidies given by others
- Printing subsidies to pay for publications which were not the result of support from the Foundation.
- Translations unconnected with any measure supported by the Foundation
- The provision or topping up of departmental budgets
- Participation in conferences in Germany or abroad
- International conferences and meetings of scholarly associations
- Exhibitions
- Applications from schools and technical colleges
- Applications from both commercial adult education institutes and non-profit adult education institutions
- Applications from non-profit educational institutions which do not work directly in the areas of science and scholarship
- Charitable requests
