The "Ernst Fraenkel Distinguished Lecture Series" seeks to address students, scholars and an interested public. It is staged at the John F. Kennedy Institute for North American Studies, Free University of Berlin, and features two to four lectures per semester.

American social scientists and historians are invited to give lectures in the series on a regular basis in order to remain in constant dialogue with American developments in these disciplines. The range of topics is broad: in addition to the focal points of political, social and economic sciences, there are also lectures in the cultural sciences, literature and history.

A complete list of the lectures which have been held since 1987 and lectures which have been filmed since 2009 can be found at the website
